San Francisco Art Commission

I like when people take photos of art, especially paintings - it calls attention to the limitations of photography.

Art by Visually Impaired Artists

This one is my favorite, stunning.

The best movie I have seen in recent memory is "Downfall" (German title is "Der Untergang").

I LOVE your blog. The idea of posting the high and low points of the New Yorker is a brilliant theme. Personally, I kind of like their comics, but their humor seems to be getting more and more remote (and they hope no one will notice). What I really hate is the poetry. I have a cartoon blog...if you have any interest whatsoever, have a look:

hades, who is this pig that says his wife is a slut? you don't mean . . .

zixbox, of course you can add me to your favorites. I wish I could read your blog, but . . . Ich kann uberhaupt nicht Thai lesen. and my German is bad too.

lady eve, thanks . . . at some point I got tired of just making angry pen marks in the margins of the magazine . . . the poems I especially hate? the one's about the "poet's" kids. ug. i think your cartoons are lovely.

welcome everyone.

the question that gets to me is, do photographs of someone else's visual art still count as visual art? what has to go into it to make it count? is it a revisioning in some way, or just a visual archive like "i've seen this & this & this..."?

jenn, thanks for bringing this up - one of my favorite topics.

as i've said elsewhere i'm interested in collecting, archives, libraries and all manner of organizing of image and text . . . even a collection of snapshots has some creative, editorial presence. why did one see this and this and this but not that that and that?

There's such tension and dynamic in this picture. It brings to the mind the late works of...uh...ah hell, I forget.

That painting sucks. If you don't mind my saying, the New Yorker sucks too. :)

Gee Gerald, you're so descriptive and persuasive. You've really brought a lot to the discussion.

Read and look closely at the blog, its not a painting. Those are folded pieces of paper.
