how do you use you tube?

Not only how does one use it at all, but also how do you personally use it? What do you find it useful for? What is not there? What are the best ways to search it? How do you limit your searches to find what you want? Can I find movie clips? Of things not otherwise available? Or are there other sites that work better for this sort of searching?

Sepoy used it to find . . . Can I use it to find

Most of the YouTube clips I see have been linked from other sites. Occasionally I search for things (often music) but nothing very systematic. I'm sure you can find movie clips but not necessarily what you're looking for. My sense is that much copyrighted material appears only to disappear a short time later.

There was something in Slate a while back with links to all kinds of great YouTube videos.

I use it mainly for football/cricket and the occasional viral video. There are plenty of movie clips and most weird things under the grey sky. You should add Google Video to your arsenal as well. They have more movies though - being Google.

Search is all through 'tags' - a la flicker.

i use it to a) find quirky or amusing clips which i started posting on either a website my friend & i set up or (when it works) using just the audio on our podcast b) find clips of things that have been in the news or media (eg. the colbert press corps speech) c) there are some (not too many) interesting videoblogs. all of which are fine tools when procrastinating.

in addition to google video there's also ifilm, putfile, & video bomb (a lot of overlap; sometimes not).
