And Collins on Obama, Michelle. I'm not sure that that joke Obama made at the spa is so much "a blunt discussion about race" as it is part and parcel of the couple's strategy for confronting racist anxieties about black people with political power. But there you are.

i'm not sure what sasha's role is at the magazine. his habit seems to be to wait until the trendspotting public has formed a consensus about a musician, and then to agree with that consensus, only from a position slightly above the rabble (or so he would have us believe). is this necessary? is it necessary for three or four pages every other issue? does anyone who is willing to read several pages about amy winehouse not already know about her? it's just, you know, it's so boring. i wish he would uncover acts instead of simply telling us what the kids are listening to.
Hear, hear.
Also, sad but true, I think there's another Lauren Collins out there with a more obvious (or vocal) lesbian demographic.
