Houston, TX
My younger brother teaches middle school in Houston and he's still there now, Thursday night. He tried to leave early Wednesday morning, but I guess telling one bazillion people to leave town isn't really an evacuation plan. He sat in traffic all morning, then gave up, bought supplies and headed home.

He made a wise choice. It was the first time I enjoyed Houston in 30 years. No traffic, no wait, no large SUV bearing down on my back side. Besides half the people left and ended up right in the path of the storm after it shifted.
My brother is just fine and, in his case, staying was better than going. His electricity didn't even go out! And school starts back up on Wednesday. Hopefully his kids were as lucky . . . In any case, it was annoying to listen to the reporters talking about those who didn't evacuate as "thrill-seekers" - staying was not his choice, but it worked out for the best.
